I’m a fourth-generation San Franciscan, born on New Year's Day and raised in Marin County. My dad was a banker whose passion to help others led him to a career in financial planning. My mom was a school teacher but put her career on hold to be home with my brother, Josh, and me. After 12 years of raising two boys, she was more than ready to head back to her career in education, this time as a school administrator.

Growing up, my parents ensured we understood the importance of hard work and an unwavering work ethic. This helps explain my first job bagging groceries at the “local” supermarket. It was 10 miles away, but I was happy to have the job and rode my bike to and from work that entire summer. Sandwiched In between work and school, was a packed schedule of sports including water polo, swimming, soccer, and baseball.

Early in my life, I developed a love for people and a passion for helping others while in my junior year of high school. I had an incredible opportunity to spend eight weeks in Costa Rica, working with Amigos de las Americas on service projects in an impoverished local town. Helping others gave me a sense of fulfillment and I knew I would find a way to make that my career. With that experience, I committed to becoming fluent in Spanish and continuing a life of volunteerism to help others in any way I can. It's why I continue to work with Family Reach, a non-profit that provides pro bono financial planning to families who have loved ones going through cancer treatment.

Having a father in financial services showed me that having a career helping others was possible. I went on to graduate from UCLA, then began my career with Franklin Templeton Investments in San Mateo, California. In 2003, I went on to join my father’s practice and subsequently took over when he retired in 2014. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure to work with successful families who are within about five years of retirement. Most are confident that they have enough money to retire but their biggest concern is how to do it and when. That’s where we come in.

Today, Robin, my wife of 18 years, and I are the proud parents of three boys, Simon, Eli, and Noah. Being a close-knit family is very important to us, which is why we do as much as we can together. Specifically, traveling to visit new places, see different countries, and experience other cultures. In our day to day, like most young families, it can seem like a full-time job chauffeuring from baseball fields to basketball courts, music lessons, and plays, but we wouldn't change a thing. No matter where our adventures take us, we always come together and have dinner as a family, every night.

We all have something in our lives that we use as our escape. For me, it’s climbing, and more specifically, it’s Mt. Everest. I have a healthy obsession with the world’s largest mountain, which I expect to deepen soon. I will be fulfilling a bucket list item when I trek to the Everest Base Camp in the Himalayas.
